A major goal reached!!!

When I worked on my plan last summer, I decided to focus on one big project instead of scattering my energies in a hundred different directions. I had wanted to write a book since I was about 10 years old and over the years had started about six different novels, running out of steam anywhere from a few pages in to about 75 pages in.

But I stuck with the novel I started in late 2002 and last Monday, Memorial Day, I finished the first draft!!!! I was stunned when I got to the last sentence and realized I was done. Of course, now the real work begins with getting this mass of handwritten scribbles into readable form. But for the first time I have something that can eventually be made into a book!!

I got to a stage where quitting no longer was an option. I finished part one, then figured I may as well continue. Then I wrote a chapter that I had always thought would be difficult, finished it and realized it hadn't been all that tough. Then when I finished part two, there was simply no point in stopping there, I may as well finish it. And now that I have a first draft, I may as well edit it.

I have learned so much about persistence and the momentum that small successes create, leading to larger successes that previously seemed unacheivable.

I hope you are having success with any goals you're working with. And I'm here to tell you that even daunting goals can be acheived!
